Detailed Instructions -->

Follow these simple steps to Scan documents onto a Microsoft WORD format or a Portable Document Format (PDF).

Step Summary:

 

   

Step 1
Open the Canon scanner as shown by pulling up on the lid. Place your document face up on the scanner as shown.

Step 2
Place your document face up on the scanner as shown:

Step 3
Click on the OmniPage Pro 12 icon to start the application:

Step 4
You will see the following screen.

Step 5
Depending upon the kind of document you intend to scan, choose the appropriate option under the number 1 icon.

We will choose Scan Color; you could choose Grayscale or B&W as well.  

Step 6
You can further define the kind of document you are trying to scan by selecting its format, i.e. if the document contains only columns or a table etc. If you are not certain what to pick, just use the default "Automatic" setting.

Step 7
You may also select whether you would like to just copy to clipboard to paste it to your document of choice etc. We recommend you to select the default "Save as File" option.

Step 8
Now we are ready to scan, Click on the icon that looks like a PLAY button on a VCR and reads "1-2-3". This will start the scanning.

Step 9
You will see the following message:

Step 10
The document will start scanning and you will be prompted to start proofreading the document in the following window:

You can choose to "Ignore All" or you could edit the words here.

If for some reason the proofreading is stopped you will see the following window appear:

Click on "Resume" to get back to proofreading the document.

You might also get the window:

Click on "Cancel" and then Click "Resume" (if applicable).
 
  
Step 11
When you are done proofreading the document, Click on the "Close" button to close this window:

Step 12
The document has been scanned, and we are ready to save our document onto a WORD or a PDF format. Click on "File/save". The save box will appear and will look like this:

Step 13
Here is where you select the format of the saved document. Click on the drop down menu right next to "Files of type" and you can select Microsoft Word 2000/XP, PDF etc.

Select the appropriate File type, give your file a name, select the location at which you are going to save the document (e.g. A drive or your zip drive) and click "OK".
 
Step 14
Your document is now scanned, converted to Word or PDF format (or whatever you chose) and saved. You can close OmniPro by clicking on the "close" button at the top right end of the screen.

You will be prompted if you would like to save the OmniPro document. You have already saved your document in a previous step, and you do not need to save the current (OmniPro) document.

Go ahead and click on "No".

You have successfully scanned, converted, and saved your document!
 
Step 15 - Don't Forget!!
Remove your originals from the scanner!!!
