Turning on the Computer

Press the Power button on the monitor to turn it on. The computer is left on at all times but if for some reason you do not see the power light on the computer press the power button to turn on the computer.

Turning on the Projector

You would use the control panel, located below the computer monitor/ keyboard to turn the projector on as shown below.

To turn on the projector Press the button on the panel that says "Projector Power", as you press the button the power light will start blinking. You can see that the projector lights will turn green and a blue image should appear on the screen showing a "NO SIGNAL" message.

Now that you have the Projector power on, you have the options to use The Computer, The Video Visualizer, connect a Laptop,  or project a video using the VCR.

Using the Computer

To project the computer on the screen simply turn on the computer as described above. Once you have the computer turned on, you have to select the appropriate input device on the control panel so that the projector can receive the signal from the computer. You will press the "PC" button shown below to select the the PC as the input device.

Once the PC button has been selected the image from the PC should appear on the screen. It might take 60-90 seconds before you can see the image appear on the screen. If the image does not appear in a couple of minutes press any of the other buttons eg: "AUX", "VCR" etc. and then press the "PC" button again, that should bring the PC display on to the screen. Please make sure that the Computer is turned ON.

Using the Video Visualizer

The video visualizer can be used to project any image, document, transparency etc. to the screen. To use the Video visualizer take the cover off the machine.

To turn Video Visualizer's power on, press the power key located at the center left side of the machine.

Make sure that you take the lens cover off the camera before you begin.

To actually operate the machine you may follow the easy steps provided in the user's manual placed on top of the Video Visualizer.

In order to project the image from the Visualizer to the screen you need to select the "AUX" as the input on the control panel.

It might take 60-90 seconds before you can see the image appear on the screen. If the image does not appear in a couple of minutes press any of the other buttons eg: "PC", "VCR" etc. and then press the "AUX" button again, that should bring the Video Visualizer display on to the screen. Make sure that the lens cover is removed from the Camera lens.

Connecting a Laptop to the Projector

To connect a Laptop with the projector you need a video cable and a network cable which are placed in the storage closet for your convenience.

To connect a Laptop to the projector you need to press the input device button labeled "Laptop" on the control panel.

Assuming you have turned on your laptop, using the video cable you need to connect it physically with the control panel. Connect one end of the video cable to the Laptop video output (mostly colored blue).

Connect the other end of the video cable to the control panel labeled "Laptop Connection".

After connecting the video cable at both ends, you need to press and hold the "Fcn" key and then press the CRT/LCD function key (mostly the F8 key) to send the signal from your Laptop the projector.

NOTE:
some Laptops have a different CRT/LCD Function key, refer to your Laptop's user manual.

You should now have the Laptop image projected on the screen.


(Optional) If you need access to the internet on the Laptop, connect one end of the Network cable to the data jack situated right below the screen.

Connect the other end of the Network Cable to the Laptop's Network Interface Card (NIC Card)

You are now connected and should be able to access the CSUF Network/ Internet with your Laptop.

How to use the Scanner

Turn the monitor on, the computer should already be on, if not,  turn the computer on. The Scanner powers on automatically.


Lift the scanner lid and place your document/image FACE DOWN on the scanner.

Close the lid and press the SCAN button to begin scanning.

After having pressed the scan button you will see the following screen appear which shows 5 easy steps to complete your scanning. Skip Steps 1 & 2.

In Step 3 you select the destination of your scan, we will simply use the "FILE" option and save our file.

Moving on to Step 4, we select the output type, ie we select how we would like our image to appear once it has scanned. For example if its some text with a picture we would use "Text and Image".

We selected "Text and Image" as seen below. Click OK.

Once we have selected our output type, we are ready to Save our scanned image/document file. Click on "Save the Scan Now".

Next, the Save As window will appear and you would be prompted to save your document in a folder of your choice. You may also click on "Save as type" and select the appropriate file format that you wish to choose for your document.
Note:
"The Save as type" selection would vary depending upon what you selected the "output type" to be in Step 4 above.

We selected "Rich Text File" for our "Save as type". Click on "Save".

You would now see a Processing window which will increment as the document is scanned and saved to the location selected in previous steps.

Using the VCR

The VCR is placed below the instructor's desk. Turn the power on and insert your video tape and press Play.

To project the VCR onto the screen, simply select "VCR" on the control panel as the input device.

You should now be able to view the video on the screen.
 

To set the audio volume you can use the control panel audio volume.
