Lab Upgrades Fall 2007

Lab Upgrades Fall 2007

  1. Camtasia and Snag-IT, popular multipmedia-editing tools, were installed in EC-31.
  2. Camtasia records all interactions on the user's screen to create training or presentation videos. Snag-IT captures a picture of the user's screen which can be used in many applications.
  3. EC-66 also received Camtasia, in addition to Second Life, gateway to the online virtual world of the same name.
  4. New Canon Video Visualizers were installed in EC-66 and EC-125. The Visualizer is a document camera that captures and projects images of paper-based documents or 3-D objects.
  5. The accessibility station in EC-125 now has Shark (Shorthand-Aided Rapid Keyboarding). Shark reads the shapes created by a user tracing lines from one letter to the next on a keyboard displayed on the monitor. An online demonstration of Shark is available from IBM.

A newly designed Information Technology website was released in Summer 2006.

CHHD-IT Lab equipment upgrades occurred during Intersession and Summer of 2006 (details may be found below). Click on a classroom number to see a full listing of that lab's equipment.

Intersession 2006:

  1. Desktop computer upgrades occurred in EC-24A (20 stations), EC-31 (33 stations), and EC-125 (24 stations). Monitors in labs were upgraded to LCD flat-screen models.
  2. New printers were installed in EC-24A (2 printers), EC-31 (1 printer), EC-55 ( printer), and EC-66 (2 printers).
  3. New LCD projectors were installed in EC-24A, EC-55, EC-66 and EC-125.

Summer 2006:

  1. Desktop computer upgrades occurred in EC-24 (5 stations) and EC-55 (25 stations).
  2. New printers were installed in EC-31 (1 printer) and EC-125 (1 printer).
  3. A new ceiling-mounted LCD projector to be installed in EC-24, along with a DVD/VCR combo and a new faculty workstation.

The Reading and Education Administration Computer Lab Upgrade (Intersession 2005) The Reading and EDAD computer lab at EC-24A was upgraded with 20 new Dell Optiplex GX 270 computers. The Kinesiology and Health Science Lab Upgrade (Fall 2004)
The Kinesiology and Health Science Lab at KHS-272 was recently upgraded with 38 brand new Dell computers. Visit the KHS-272 home page and get more details about the new lab.

The Elementary Education Lab Upgrade (Summer 2004)
The EDEL computer lab at EC-66 was also upgraded to an all PC lab with brand new Dell computers. Visit the EC-66 home page for more details on the lab.
