About Passwords to Our Databases:

Users are required to use a password to gain entry to our databases.

The password can be, but does not need to be the same as the password you use to gain access to your desktop computer. It does not need to change when you change your desktop password.

You can have a separate password for each database, or you can use the same password for each database to which you have access.

CHHD-IT does not maintain a list of passwords, so if you forget your password, we'll issue you a new one per your request.

How to Connect to Our Databases:

  • Send an email to Anh Lu requesting access to one or more of our databases.

  • Accounts are created using your campus email name (e.g., xsmith). An account may also be created for one general user who does not have a campus email identity, but these special user names are typically limited to Student Assistants or other temporary workers hired to update the database.

  • Once your request is approved, a member of the database staff will create a username and password for each database to which you have received access. See "About Passwords" elsewhere on this page.

  • Your account will be given access to the Colleges' data by our network administrator.

  • One of the database staff will come to your office and put a shortcut on your computer desktop for each database to which you have been granted access. The shortcut is your means of access to the requested data.
